01

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser when you visit it. It is used to remember information between pages or between visits: anything from a preference of yours to statistics about how the site is used.

Some are essential for the site to work. Others, such as analytics cookies, are optional and can only be installed if you allow them.

02

Which cookies I use

This site uses only analytics cookies, from Google Analytics, to find out how many people visit and which content interests them. That information helps me decide what to improve.

I do not use advertising, profiling or social network cookies, and the data is not used to identify you personally or to send you advertising.

CookieProviderPurposeLifetime
_ga Google To tell unique visitors apart and count visits 2 years
_ga_* Google To keep the state of the analytics session 2 years
es_cookies_v1 Elisabet Solo To remember whether you accepted or rejected cookies, so you are not asked again Kept until you clear your browser data

es_cookies_v1 is not strictly a cookie but a value stored in your browser’s local storage. It never travels to the server and cannot identify you: it only remembers your decision. That is why it stays even if you reject everything else.

03

Google Analytics and your data

The provider is Google Ireland Limited. The information collected —pages viewed, length of visit, type of device, approximate origin— is handled in aggregate form and with the IP address anonymised.

Google may process this data on servers outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

You can read how Google handles the information in its privacy policy, and install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on if you want to block it on every site you visit.

04

YouTube videos

On the Projects page there is a short film hosted on YouTube. To protect your privacy, the video is not loaded when the page opens: only a cover image is shown. YouTube only comes into play if you press the play button.

When you do, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, Google’s enhanced privacy domain. At that point YouTube may store technical and preference cookies in your browser and learn that you have watched that video. If you never press play, nothing is sent to YouTube.

The provider is Google Ireland Limited. You can read the details in its privacy policy.

05

How to give or withdraw consent

The first time you arrive you will see a notice at the bottom with two options: accept or reject. Until you choose, no analytics cookie is installed.

If you reject, Google Analytics is not loaded and its cookies are deleted if any exist. You can change your mind at any time from here:

06

How to manage them from your browser

Regardless of the above, you can block or delete cookies from your browser settings. Bear in mind that this affects every website, not just this one:
